Tofino Bus - Your West Coast Connection
Want to come to Tofino but don't feel like making the drive yourself? A great way to travel out to Tofino (especially during the winter when the road conditions are less then perfect) is by our awesome local transit provider The Tofino Bus.
Local Dylan Green created the Tofino Bus when he saw the need for transportation that would allow people coming to the surf capital of Canada to bring surfboards with them on public transportation. He started out small with just one van and one driver and has now grown to a full fleet of buses and vans with multiple routes including school buses for our local school district. Initially Dylan ran his bus on biodiesel but had to stop due to supply problems. This is a great article about Dylan's award for the bus service and his hope to one day return to using biodiesel.
In addition to daily bus schedules to Nanaimo and Victoria, there is also a Beach Bus from Tofino to Ucluelet that will drop people off at some of the best sights in the Pacific Rim National Park. Click here to see the schedule.
During the summer months of July and August the Tofino Transit is also in operation, running from downtown Tofino to Cox Bay between 10:00am and 7:00pm daily. The Tofino Transit has a stop right at our showerhouse which makes it very convenient for our guests, especially ones with R.V’s since you can leave your RV hooked up at Crystal Cove and have easy and cheap transportation into town or out to the nearest beaches.
The Tofino Bus is currently applying for a daily bus route between Campbell River, Courtenay, Nanaimo and Victoria and asking for support from the public to gain approval from the Passenger Transportation Board of BC. Please go to their website to get more information and to show your support for these new routes!
