Euphorbia amydaloides 'Purpurea'

 
Description: 14" tall clumps. Bronze purple leaves. Reseeds readily.
Ideal conditions: Well drained soil with regular water. Sun to partial shade.
Bloom: Chartreuse flowers in summer.

Heuchera 'Amber waves' (Coral Bells )

 
Description: 9-10" in height. Mounds of amber gold foliage
Ideal conditions: Full sun with afternoon shade in cool climates. Shade in all shows its colors best though. Moderate to regular water. Any drained moist soil will do, but beef it up with compost and it will really look great. Regular water.
Bloom: Delicate spikes of rose flowers in early summer.

Achillea millifolium 'Terra Cotta' ( Common Yarrow )

 
Description: Ferny, dark green leaves that grow as a mound at the base as well as up the stem. 24"-30 " tall x 18" wide.
Ideal conditions: Rich, moist, drained soil in full sun will give you a very healthy plant. It will tolerate poor soil in full to part sun though, and still bloom quite well. Regular to moderate water depending on location. They can withstand a drought as well.
Bloom: Mid to late summer brings flat topped clusters of flowers in what used to be shades of Terra Cotta. This one took a year off from blooming and came back in a bright yellow with subtle hints of orange around the edges.

Rudebeckia hirta 'Prarie Sun' ( Gloriosa Daisy or Black Eyed Susan )

 
Description: 24" x 24". Dark green leaves with a rough dark green leaf. Very sturdy. 
Ideal conditions: Most soil types will do as long as they are drained. Regular water and full sun. This one may burn out in a couple of years. It should self sow so look out for babies and cultivate them.
Bloom: Bright yellow daisy like flowers with a pale yellow green center start in mid summer until fall.

Rudebeckia fulgida 'Goldsturm' (Black eyed susan or Goldstorm Coneflower)

 
Description: Dark green, rough, spade shaped veined leaves. Forms a clump initially that is about 3' tall by 2' wide. Spreads by rhizomes and will need separating annually to keep blooms a priority.
Ideal conditions: Most soil types will do as long as they are drained. Regular water and full sun.
Bloom: Covered in daisy like flowers with dark brown almost black raised center. Starts mid summer till fall.

Ligularia stenocephala 'The Rocket'

 
Description: Forms a large clump of wide, spade shaped, irregularly toothed leaves. Tall ( up to 5' ), narrow, dark stems hold the flower spikes up high.
Ideal conditions: Ample moisture in rich soil. They do not tolerate heat or low humidity. Dappled shade is best. Watch out for slugs when they are small.
Bloom: At least 12" from the top of the spire is covered in small yellow daisy like flowers. Looks great planted in a drift or as a solo act. Early summer.
 

Lysamachi ciliata 'Firecracker'

 
Description: This is a colorful version of a north american native wildflower. Stands 30"- 35" tall x the same wide. The leaves start out with a burgundy color slowly lightening to green later in the season. The stems have a yellowish cast to them. Can spread a bit too much, but it pulls out easily enough.
Ideal conditions: Any moist soil seems to satisfy it. Full sun to part shade with regular water.
Bloom: Yellow flowers contrast well with bronze red leaf. Early summer to late.

Caltha palustrus ( Marsh Marigold )

 
Description: Height is up to 31" tall. The leaves are rounded to kidney-shaped, 2"- 6" across, with a bluntly serrated margin, and a thick, waxy texture. Similar to water lily. Stems are hollow.
Ideal conditions: Native to marshes, wet woodlands, and ditches. Prefers partial shade, but does fine in full sun on the coast. Dies back in the winter.
Bloom: As a relative of the buttercup that’s just what it looks like.

Sedum rupestre 'Angelina' (Angelina Stonecrop )

 
Description: A terrific low evergreen groundcover. This forms a trailing mat of succulent golden-yellow, soft needle like leaves.
Ideal conditions: Sunny areas with poor dry soil. Low water needs. Will grow in part shade too, but it will lose some of the yellow color. Stunning over a wall or in a container .
Bloom : No flowers ( It doesn't need them ! )

Solidago canadensis ( Canadian Goldenrod )

 
Description: Tall 3'- 4' bright green stems with feathery green foliage.
Ideal conditions: Grow in lean to moderately fertile, well-drained soil in full sun to partial. Average water needs.
Bloom: Wide spears almost in a pyramid shape, of greenish yellow flowers to start, ageing to golden yellow.
